There’s a reason why words from Socrates, Plato and Aristotle have stood the test of time. Ideas cause ideas – nourish yours with an inspirational quote.

Why are inspirational quotes so powerful? We know that since the beginning of recorded history, words have significant power. There’s a reason why sayings from Socrates, Plato and Aristotle have stood the test of time, just to name a few. Some experts believe there is a biological draw to motivational quotes. Psychology and Communications expert Scott Sobel says that, “Humans are aspirational. We want to look up to role models and leaders and follow what they ask. Leaders and their words – inspirational quotes – affect us on a primal level.” Other experts argue that “ideas cause ideas” and that being exposed to an idea can unleash a new understanding, or provide further support for something you are already thinking or doing.

I personally have a few go-to quotes and inspiring thinkers like Rumi, that I turn to when I want to spark creativity, feel motivated or change my mindset. Specific words or sayings have helped to keep me focused, push away all of the extra ‘mental clutter’ and nurture my wellbeing. I have also used quotes to help communicate a complex idea or approach and to help others understand my world view. Quotes and sayings carry so much potential in them, which is why I believe that everyone should have a go-to inspirational quote or two.

Below I’ve curated some of my favourite inspirational quotes on different topics. Take a look at the list and if any resonate with you, you can print them out, keep them on your phone (I like using notes on my phone) or include them in your digital brand presence (LinkedIn, blogging, social media, etc.)
